Milaap enables you to lend to India's working poor so they can get access to education, clean water, safe lighting and more.
A small loan goes a long way. And comes back to you.
field partner selection
Milaap's focus is to collaborate with grass-roots organizations that provide affordable financing to the poor. We look for organizations that work in areas such as education, energy, healthcare, sustainable farming, vocational training, and water & sanitation in regions in India where there are few alternatives to affordable credit.
These organisations, referred to as 'Field partners', are an important part of Milaap's ecosystem. The right field partner ensures that we have the insight needed to design effective credit programs for the borrower.
Field partners are an important contributor to Milaap's ecosystem. The right field partner ensures that we have the essential insights needed to design effective credit programs with the objective of improved living conditions and sustainable livelihoods for the borrower.
Milaap engages in a rigorous four step process to identify and select field partners.
- 1 A visit to the field partner for assessment and to establish rapport
- 2 An understanding of the funding need and the focus and aims of the potential partner
- 3 A thorough financial analysis and a detailed appraisal of the governance policies of the partner, and
- 4 A field visit to review on-ground performance through interviews with the borrower community and the partner's field staff
The alliance between Milaap and the field partners results in greater and faster access to low cost capital for disbursement to borrowers. It also means high transparency, adherence to set procedures, and regular borrower management.
