Sophie Memorial Animal Relief Trust, (SMART Sanctuary) is a living Tribute to #Sophie, the adopted Indian Dog Daughter of Kaveri & YashRaj Bhardwaj, who passed away in January 2017 at the age of 12 years.

We have been successfully running a rehabilitation center & home in Greater Noida for disabled, abused & abandoned animals for past many years, thanks to our benefactors & Milaap.
No Mercy For Animal Haters
Around 9000 plus animals have had complete recovery through rescue, surgeries, therapy, sterilizations, vaccinations, rehabilitation & treatment till now, which includes dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, calves, langurs, monkeys, donkeys, goats, etc.

Team SMART Sanctuary with the support from local Forest Department, have also rescued and rehabilitated more than 1500 snakes and few pythons, which otherwise would have been killed by the scared natives.
The ongoing process of saving treating the injured ones, made us realize that abused, extremely old and permanently disabled animals need lifetime care and could not be left back in their original territory, this made us start a forever Animal Sanctuary to give permanent free shelter, a healthy and happy life for all such Special Needs voiceless souls.
To fund this project for initial two years, we put all our life savings & sell few of our only possessions. Then Milaap happened & helped us save thousands of lives in need.
SMART Sanctuary is a forever home for hundreds of voiceless animals which is under dire emergency as the land on which Sanctuary was constructed has been taken back by the owners despite a promise of 7 years! :(
We had suffered a tremendous financial and moral loss as the construction we did there to keep our rescues safe went to complete waste, just because one man couldn't keep his promise.
But we never lost hope!. Thanks to Mahadev & Thanks to you all we have rented a new facility in Greater Noida so that our support to injured, old & abused animals doesn't suffer due to lack of place!
The rented unit of SMART Sanctuary will need soil filling to prevent flooding in rains, some repair & construction before we can safely admit more animals there. We will also need to buy roofing sheets to protect from cold & rain. The estimate for the same is about INR 4,2 lacs including the raw material & labor.
We are the only 24 by 7 operating FREE Rescue Home in Greater Noida & nearby villages for Abused, Senior and Disabled Animals. These voiceless would stand no chance if we all don't come through for them now.
Old, abused and disabled animals face a brutal and tough life if not given support, care and love; and we at Sophie, from neurological issues and spinal injuries to paralysis and mobility issues, we shelter them all. Even the worst of the cases are given a second chance at a happy, healthy life at SMART Sanctuary! Please help us get a second chance now to save all these precious lives.
A part of the campaign shall be used to pay staff salaries, veterinary bills, food bills and other miscellaneous expenses we incur at the Sanctuary every month, which is over 4 lacs!
The remainder part of this campaign will go towards the procurement of land & construction in Uttarakhand, where a Forever Home is built by us on the land of our Trustees. Ground Floor has been extended to accommodate more dogs & admissions & movement there should begin soon.
