Sakhi Samudaya Kosh (SSK) and Sakhi Retail - Maharashtra, India

SSK

SSK focuses on providing credit for livelihood needs such as education, water and sanitation. It also trains and assists women micro-entrepreneurs through its sister organisation Sakhi Retail that delivers life-changing products and services, including smokeless stoves, solar heaters, and organic fertilisers for rural households.

Through community-driven financial services to Self Help Groups (SHGs) and engagement with grassroots entrepreneurs, these two organisations have helped create sustainable income streams for households and improved opportunities for better education and lifestyle. Nearly 28,000 people and 3,000 groups have benefitted so far.

"Low cost and flexible credit options are crucial for women SHGs, therefore, we have designed with Milaap, a loan program at 12% interest, almost half the cost of other MFI loans in the area. These loans are aligned with the income cycle of the Sakhis at monthly, and not the usual weekly repayment cycles. We are glad to announce that soon Milaap will also be supporting our vocational training and healthcare programmes."
- Mr. Rajesh Badhak, CEO, SSK
