DCBS - West Bengal, India
Dhosa Chandaneswar Bratyajana Samity (DCBS) is a not-for-profit society based in West Bengal that has been working in the microfinance and integrated women’s development sector for around eight years. The focus is on public health, adult education, zero-budget natural farming, apart from rural electrification. Working in the district of South 24 Parganas, DCBS has disbursed over 10,000 loans to women across 160 villages to date. It has the backing of institutions like ICICI, SBI and Small Industries Development Bank of India.
DCBS has tied up with ONergy to bring light to households in six villages in South 24 Parganas. Solar panels will be installed in households that will be able to light up four CFL bulbs and one fan for 4-5 hours each day in the households.
