Deepa

Deepa takes care of user interface design at Milaap. Besides UI, she contributes to SEO and site compliance with W3C standards.

Deepa came to Milaap from Experience Commerce, where she designed micro-sites, social media campaigns, and websites for clients like The Times of India Group, Mitsubishi, and Aviva. She was also integral to the design of an award-winning campaign - The Great Driving Challenge - winner of IDMA Gold and Webby Silver award. She continues to work on independent UI design projects in India, USA, UAE, and Europe.

When Anoj witnessed first-hand the impact of a $10 solar lantern, sold on credit, to the extremely poor in tribal Orissa, it sparked in him the idea for Milaap - to connect with ease the struggling 700 million people of India with prosperous Indians and the Diaspora, thus, creating opportunities that change the playing field for the poor at an everyday level.

Deepa is currently pursuing a Masters' in User Interface Design at City College, London.

Prasath Venkatharaman

Prasath is our geek Genius at work. He has designed and built Milaap's entire online lending platform. Passionate about adhering to good design standards, modular architecture, and test driven development, Ruby on Rails is his main development platform, however, in his free time Prasath experiments with Erlang, Cassandra , and Hadoop among others.

Prasath is a strong supporter of FOSS and contributing back to the community. Some of his past contributions have been swift_db (a B+ tree) and utility.js (a Jquery based utility library). You can follow his experiments with technology on his blog: http://prasath.posterous.com/

Prasath is currently exploring a multiple opportunities to start-up.

Clement

From launching the "Branded Shop" in UK and France for eBay to creating the "Paris de la Creation", a social business plan competition in the early days of social business in Europe and supervising a study about social entrepreneurship in Spain for the Credit Cooperatif and MACIF, Clement brings with him significant organizational and analytical skills. He is responsible for driving community engagement through social media and creative "momentum sessions" that involve the participation of the community in fund raising and ideation to support our loans.

Clement studied at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore, India; at ESCP Europe, France and at Universidad Carlos III, Spain.

Clement has moved back to France and is a Business Development manager working with Moodstocks.

Gokul

Gokul interned with Milaap while he was pursuing Computer Science and Engineering at NIT Trichy. Apart from being an algorithmic coder, he is also a Ruby on Rails enthusiast. His interests include movies, cricket and music - especially A R Rahman's. He is also an 'exuberant sleeper.' He aspires to become an entrepreneur one day.

Abhijith

Our cheerleader par excellence, Tanvi Mehta takes care of all our fundraising activities in and around Mumbai. An alumnus of AIESEC, Pune and Adelaide, she has worked with SKS microfinance, helping launch schools in low-income communities in Andhra Pradesh. Her work on solar lighting with SKS also took her to rural Orissa, where villages mired in darkness and poverty motivated her to do something to better the lives of the poor. She also has worked with Grameen Koota and Shell foundation on promoting the use of smokeless chulhas, among other projects.

When she is not raising funds for Milaap, Tanvi is usually found making impassioned speeches and giving pep-talks to people on various topics under the sun.

Abhijith

Abhijit focuses on corporate and high-value fundraising in Singapore for Milaap. A finance professional with experience in equities at Deutsche Bank, FX derivatives at Barclays Capital, and consulting engagements at Ernst & Young, Abhijit is also the Founder and President of an international charity- EPICS, for education of children in India, which he feels has contributed to his understanding and skills for connecting world resources to development needs.

peixin

Peixin is our PR intern from the National University of Singapore. In her second year of university, pursuing a degree in Social Sciences, she’s on a six-month break to work with Milaap. She enjoys travelling, shopping and trying out different cuisines. Within a couple of months of arriving in India, she’s been on a few field trips as well as trips to Goa, Mumbai and Hampi. Inspired by Milaap, she took it upon herself to raise funds to build toilets in Tamil Nadu through her personal network (lendatoilet.causevox.com) and made a short documentary on her field trip experience.

After her graduation, she would like to start a business of her own. Guess that’s what happens if you hang out too much with our founders…

ragav

Raghav during his internship played a variety of roles ranging from managing Milaap's media efforts, as well as kickstarting outreach partnerships. He contributed to several of the articles under the need for better sanitation, enterprise development, and education which reflected the content and personality of Milaap's interventions.

Raghav graduated from National Institute of Technology, Surathkal in 2012 and is currently a Young India Fellow.

kishore

Kishore helped us during our initial stages when he conceptualized ideas for our analytics. Though he is no longer with us, his time with spent for us apart from his normal day time job as a Technologist in Bank of America is much appreciated.

Kishore graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2009. He likes to gather intelligence and calls himself a Mossad agent.

Mayukh Chaudary

Brenda is the newest entrant to the Milaap team, all the way from Kenya. Her interests include social media, social entrepreneurship and being a positive change agent in her society. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing and has been involved in several youth organizations, such as AIESEC, through which she came to Milaap.

She strongly believes that doing good is what makes us happy, and has found the perfect way to do this by merging social enterprise, which is impact based, and social media, through which we can share this with others and spread the word.

Brenda is an ardent adventurer and writer, and when she is not busy on the internet, she loves to be outdoors seeing and discovering new places, taking pictures, eating new food and meeting new people. She speaks good Japanese, sings and plays several instruments and is a sports enthusiast.

puneet mir

Puneet is pursuing his Master's in Software Systems from BITS Pilani, Goa. Currently interning at Milaap as part of the Tech team, Puneet is passionate about coding, algorithms, object oriented programming, and appreciates great UI. He is also equally passionate about football and ardently follows the premier league. He believes that no matter how experienced you are, there’s always something new to learn every day.

arvind asheesh

In his final year of Computer Science engineering from BITS Pilani Goa, Arvind is an intern at Milaap. He hails from Ranchi, Jharkhand. He currently helps develop various apps for the team. He loves to play online racing games and chatting in his free time. He believes in not worrying too much about the future, but simply going with the flow instead.

nagendra

A Computer Science engineer from Bangalore, Nagendra is a big fan of the opensource community. He likes to work on technologies like Ruby on Rails, Jquery and Html. He brings with him a couple of years of experience working on Web portal products for Datacenters and Data security companies on Ruby on Rails. He likes to share his learnings on his blog openrails.blogspot.com. Besides coding, he enjoys listening to music, travelling and writing poetry.
His motivation behind joining the Milaap team? "Because I strongly believe that technology should be used to implement tools that are helpful for a social cause and mankind in general. That's why Milaap inspires me."

Karthik

Karthik is the Chief of Marketing at Milaap. Having attended Rutgers University, New Jersey for a year, he decided to come back to India to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams. Kartik takes keen interest in community related activities. At the age of 19, he started an organization called ‘Youth4cause’ to bring about social awareness in youth around the world. He is passionate about using technology to bring about change and his dream is to build the next Google. If you see some outrageous, but rather effective campaigns on Milaap, you can be sure Karthik has a hand in it.

Bianca

Bianca is our visual storyteller from Brazil. A Bachelor in Social Sciences, Bianca has worked extensively in the field of Visual Anthropology. Having joined Milaap as an AIESEC fellow, Bianca brings to the table her vast experience working with audiovisual production in several Brazilian local communities. She strongly believes that audiovisual means and new media have the unique power to promote dialogue and interaction. Our in-house film producer-director-editor is responsible for the recent slickly shot and crisply edited videos that you’ve been seeing on Milaap.

She loves photography and art and is constantly seeking ways to use technology to create art. She can teach you a thing or two about Capoeira and Yoga too.
